SUSTAINABILITY
Overview
At Transrail, sustainability is not just a responsibility—it is an integral part of our identity and business strategy. As a design and engineering-led EPC organisation operating in critical infrastructure sectors such as Transmission & Distribution, Railways, Civil, and Poles & Lighting, we recognize our role in shaping a greener, more resilient future.
We embed sustainable practices across our value chain—from reducing our environmental footprint to promoting energy-efficient solutions. Our project execution focuses on long-term environmental stewardship, whether it’s minimizing land disruption, optimizing material usage, or advancing underground cabling and clean energy solutions.
We are actively transitioning towards eco-conscious operations through:
- Emphasis on low-emission technologies in our equipment and fleet
- Energy-efficient lighting and smart infrastructure in urban projects
- Promoting biodiversity protection and responsible land use at project sites
Social responsibility is also a key pillar. We invest in upskilling local communities, creating safe workplaces, and ensuring the well-being of our employees. Through our CSR programs, we support education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihoods.
Transrail remains committed to aligning with global ESG standards, contributing meaningfully to India’s sustainable development goals and those of the international markets we serve. We view sustainability not as a destination, but as a journey—one we are proud to lead with integrity, innovation, and impact.
Our Practices
Environmental sustainability is a key pillar of our operational philosophy. We are actively adopting strategies to reduce, recycle, reuse of waste, while integrating energy-efficient technologies across our manufacturing ecosystem. Our R&D team has undertaken pilot plant studies for waste heat recovery, including the recovery of ferric chloride from spent acid using membrane filtration. To drive energy conservation, we have installed Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) on cranes and furnace blowers, upgraded to LED lighting, and commissioned solar plant at our all plants.
An automated energy monitoring system has been deployed for real-time tracking, alongside a detailed energy audit to identify further improvement areas.
We have also done life cycle assessment of all our products ( Tower, Conductor, pole structure). We follow all environmental applicable rules and regulations with all applicable clearance certificate.
We have adopted a Zero Liquid Discharge system to eliminate wastewater discharge, and initiated afforestation drives around our facilities. Environmental training and ESG awareness sessions are conducted regularly to strengthen our green culture. Additional upgrades include installation of an energy-efficient air compressor, advanced fire suppression systems, encapsulation room to cover chemical process and hood for zinc kettle, high-speed CNC machinery with VFDs and servo controls, and an upgraded cooling tower in the galvanizing unit. These efforts collectively reinforce our commitment to minimising environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency and workplace safety.
